Most business owners open Claude, type a question, get a decent answer, and close the tab.

Then tomorrow they do it again. New chat. Re-explain the business. Re-paste the context. Get another decent answer that knows nothing about yesterday.

That is the single most expensive habit in the entire tool, and almost nobody notices it.

Here is the shift.

Claude has a feature called Projects. It sits in the left sidebar. Most people scroll past it because it looks like folder organisation. It is not. It is the difference between a contractor you brief from scratch every morning and an employee who already knows how your business runs.

A Project holds two things a normal chat throws away.

Custom instructions: a standing brief Claude reads before every single conversation inside that Project. Your industry, your margins, your tone, your customers, the things you never want it to suggest. You write it once.

Knowledge files: your actual documents. Your pricing sheet, your three best proposals, your brand guide, last quarter's numbers. Claude pulls from them automatically, without you pasting anything in.

Once that is set up, you stop starting at step one. You open the Project and go straight to the work. "Draft the follow-up for the Henderson deal" and it already knows what the Henderson deal is, what you charge, and how you write.

The owners getting real leverage out of this are not the ones with the cleverest prompts. They are the ones who stopped running prompts and started building rooms Claude already lives in.

One example. A founder I know was retyping the same business context into a chatbot three or four times a day, every day, for months. He built one Claude Project for his marketing, dropped in his brand guide and twenty of his best posts, and wrote a tight instruction set. His "explain my business again" time went from a chunk of every working day to zero. The better part of two hours a week, back, just like that.

You do not need a new tool this week. You need to stop treating the one you have like a vending machine.

Build one Project. Pick the task you ask Claude for most. Give it the context once. Then notice how different the second conversation feels.
